It finally died. Although I made a point of fully charging and fully discharging the battery on my 14" iBook at least once a week, it no longer holds a charge.
Since Apple touts its "holistic approach to recycling — encompassing a product’s entire lifecycle," I figured they would have a program to take back my dead battery. And they do, but I'll have to make a trip to a local Walgreen's, Radio Shack or Rite Aid.
If you don't live in an urban area, Newer Technology has a program for recycling by mail. You can send in laptop and iPod batteries and NewerTech will take care of proper recycling and disposal. Simply address your postage paid packages to:
